Subject: Polar Alignment etc...

I`ve managed to get some sort of Polar Alignment by pointing the telescope south according

to a compass (allowances have to be made for true and magnetic south) and setting the

latitude scale at my present latitude. In the Scouts we used to find south by taking a

measurement of 4 lengths of the southern cross extended from it`s base and that`s been a

good basis for estimation! I don`t think I`ve quite got the PA or finder aligned properly yet

as the reading I took by sighting Alpha Centauri in the scope then lining up in the finder

wasn`t quite correct when the Go-To looked for Acrux later. I found Acrux in the finder (a

little off!) but not the scope. With this scope there seems to be a lot of play when finding

things with the directional buttons on the scope itself. Cloudy again tonight?!
