Subject: Re: More New Images!

Thanks Milton,

it is exactly my viewpoint. A planetary scope must be chosen first considering the average

seeing of the usual observing location. As the fantastic images by Alan suggest, three factors

make the difference actually: collaborating seeing, scope (aperture and quality), imaging

skill.

I have enjoyed the best views at my location with Mak-Newtons 6" f/8, and more rarely with

8"

SCTs. Since I don't like much either scope, being the first really big and heavy, and the second

one poorer in contrast, I was considering the Mewlon 180 which might be fun to work with

(I'd like to play with a lighter and more peculiar optical scheme, trying to push it at its limit).

I did not find much planetary images on the web, but this one is quite promising:

Indeed, after tweaking with collimation it seems that Jim is also getting very good results.

I am looking forward to see his next Saturn image!

Cheers,

Antonio
