Subject: Kodak Camera Sensors in IIDC cameras

Hi folks;

Right before I do a major release (Astro IIDC 4 is coming soon), I do

some checks on camera models to see if they still exist and look for

new cameras or manufacturers I haven't seen of before.

I ran across a company named "DAGE-MTI"

http://www.dagemti.com/?page=products&cat_id=1

that offers three 8 / 16 (12 actual) bit camera models (Excelv,

Excel16 and Excelm) in Bayer color or monochrome Format 7 cameras in

sizes from 640x480 to 2048x2048 pixels

The interesting part is they don't use Sony CCD's, they use Kodak

Progressive Scan Interline sensors that all have 7.4 micron square

pixels. The sensor they use are are KAI-0340,KAI-2020 and KAI-4021 in

Monchrome or Bayer versions.

The Kodak sensor have higher Q/E than most of the Sony sensors do and

are used in SBIG, Apogee and other Astro camera manufacturers too.

I haven not seen pricing yet and I'm trying to arrange getting an

evaluation model here for testing. The camera specs indicate it should

be compatible with Astro IIDC too.

I'll keep you all posted on what I find out about.

Have a great weekend..
