Dear Milton, I`ve been looking into the possibility of buying a Guide-scope this morning and

photography?

For Deep Space Objects, no - it won't work. While the camera is exposing the CCD, it can't use that frame to make corrections until after the fact.

I notice in your "My Astro Images" site you`re using one camera for guiding

and one for photography (I gather!) Are 2 cameras necessary for for doing both?

For DSO's yes.

For Planetary where you just to keep the bright planet in the field of view, you can capture and guide at the same time using an Apple Script. The Apple script does the capturing part at regular intervals. The Guide sheet locks you out from making any adjustments on the image or grabbing or recording. It likely won't work well for lunar or solar at all.

HTH..
