Thank you for the reply, Milton.

I'm thinking multiple 1 or 2 minute exposures stacked. The only

experience I have with imaging DSOs is with my point and shoot though

an eyepiece for 16 second exposures (my point and shoot's max.). So

I'm not experienced enough to know what to expect from it or what kind

of exposures I'll be looking at.

Stacked 1 to 2 minute exposures will likely work fairly well for most

brighter DSO's, especially if your at a reasonably dark location and

don't need to use a Light Pollution Filter. Where I am in downtown

Calgary, a good "dark" night is if I can see magnitude 2 stars. With

the C8 and a Flea camera, after about 40 seconds of exposure the sky

glow has turned the image white. With a LPR, I can image for up to 4

minutes before light pollution gets really bad.

For 10+ minute exposures you need good guiding with a very good mount.

Also a DMK Mono camera will be more sensitive by about 40% over a DBK too.

HTH..

What exactly is the process with these 1 to 2 minute exposures ( I presume they`re 1 to

2 minute movies) for aligning and stacking. Should the "Images To RGB48 Movie" be

used? I mean for combining each of these separate movies or processed images into 1

final image? I have a DBK 21A F04 AS camera but am yet to use it on DSO's. Some of my

moon shots, however are in the Photos section of the Astro IIDC group home page.Mark.
