Subject: Re: Quick Time Invisible
So videos can only be seen by someone who installs the codec. If we post a video on our
website, no one could view it. just trying to understand. I may be missing something.
Meanwhile, I'll load the codec to all computers I want to be able to view with Quick Time.
We're shocked. Is there a way to convert the usable Quick Time video to something else ?
Thanks, Dean

Thanks, I had installed the Bayer 23 and videos play fine in Quick
Time. However, loading
that file to another computer, it will not play. Not able to find
what I'm doing wrong in the
instructions. Thanks, Dean---
Three Possible things.
1) Did you install the codec on ALL Macs or not? It has to be
installed on each Mac you want to play video on and it ins't clear if
you've done this or not.
2) There were two (2) version of the codec in the last 3.023 release.
The "ASC_Bayer_Installer30UB" version is the Universal Binary version
for PowerPC and x86 (for OSX 10.4 and higher) and the
"ASC_Bayer_Installer23" (for OSX 10.2 and higher) PowerPC only
version. Just just double click on which ever one you need to install
and follow the instructions. Note that installation of the codec does
not require a re-start.
The reason this is important is because the ASC_Bayer_Installer23.pkg
installs only the PowerPC component, and when you use this on an x86
Macs, QuickTime player will not find the x86 version of the codec. So
it won't play the movies on x86 and you MUST install the
"Installer30UB" version.
3) The Bayer codec requires that the file "ASTRO_IIDC_REG" is present
on each Mac your are trying to play movies on. It doesn't need to be
on the same Mac or need a Camera attached. So you need to copy that
file from a registered Mac to any other Mac. The file must be placed
in /Library/Application Support/
HTH..
