It is a QuickTime Video - you just don't understand that Codecs are sometimes necessary.

And our Bayer movies are not a good choice for broadcasting video. They are uncompressed so they use up a tonne of bandwidth.

We're shocked.

Why?

Many Codecs' are 3rd party and Apple does includes those codecs in their QuickTime install.

Even Apple ships their products like this. If someone sends you an Apple Intermediate Based Movie (Apple's own codec) and you don't own Fincal Cut Pro,  you can't play it.

If you want to access MPEG 2 movies form within QuickTime, you have to spend $20 buying Apple's MPEG 2 codec and it has an unlock key.

If you want to play back a .wmv video, you will need to download "Flip4Mac's" WMV" codec and it has an unlock key.

Is there a way to convert the usable Quick Time video to something else ?

Under the "Processing Menu", choose "Export Movie..." and pick some codec to reprocess the movie with.
