Re: TIS Web(??) Cams--
DBK = Color (Bayer) w/o IR cut
DMK = Monochrome w/o IR cut
DFK = Color w/ IR cut
The above come in USB or Firewire models.
Pretty sure the later .as (astronomical) designation
comes from the camera having no lens. The earlier TIS
cams came with lens that had to be removed for astro
use. Those did not carry the .as designation.

I'm pretty far along in this game to be asking

wondering...
I forget the exact model... but I've got a DMK
Color camera with the .AS after it.
Do I need to use the IR filter on planets and the
Moon?
I didn't think I needed to with color web cams
(like the Fire-i) but I was wondering about
the
.AS (I thought that was just a firmware change but
not sure).
I've tried it both ways and didn't see much
difference, but then again the nights I was
out
didn't present me with the best skies.
In any case, easy question for those who know.
Thanks,
Duane
Mine`s a IS DBK 21A F04 AS colour camera. I wasn`t
aware there was a way of turning
off the IR filter( which is what the AS in the
serial number stands for I think). I thought the
DMKs were mono cameras hence the "M" in the serial
number. Yours Mark.
