Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] dancing with the moons...

Here`s that picture taken with my C10-NGT and altered slightly with CS3 Extended and thenMail Attachment Appleworks. I had some help from Milton in identifying the lunar features. I was surprised to find my scope was oriented with the eastern side of the moon in the "up" direction. Mark.

Hi Mark,

Unlike working with a DSLR, Barlow projection with a streaming camera is no more complicated than shooting at prime focus. Some form of tele-extension is necessary with almost every scope when doing planetary imaging (Paolo Lazzarotti's Gladius 12" reflector at f25 is the only exception I can think of).

I'm not sure where to find the link to your website that you mention in your post?

best,

Alan

That`s interesting Alan, I have a 2x and a 3x Barlow, both fairly inexpensive jobs (the 2x is a Vixen) but so far have found particularly the 3x is unco-operative except for lunar sightings. As for taking pictures through them, I haven`t managed that juggling act except for the moon and that was with my old Ni! kon SLR. I`ll take your prescriptions for shutter settings and Gaussian blur into account when I try taking pictures of Saturn, although you`re using a monochrome camera aren`t you- hence the use of filters! I recently bought CS3 Extended but am still familiarising myself with the quite complex controls. If you go to the recent link on the home page for Astro IIDC you can view my site (made with iWeb). The "10 inch" shot was altered somewhat with CS3 before labelling with Appleworks. Yours Mark.
