Subject: Re: Licensing question

Thanks Milton. I'm pretty sure I understand, but let me write out my situation to make

sure...

I have my old G4 Powerbook. I have a Core Duo MacBook Pro. I have a PowerMac dual

Quad at work.

If I upgrade my ver 3 to ver 4, use the PPC version and continue to capture on my old mac.

(Capturing has never really been a problem speed wise, so this seems like a good

observatory computer)

If I get the second reduced price copy licensed to the camera, then I could use it on the

MacBook pro for processing at home and maybe image with it in the future, if need be.

Also, just to see how fast it can go, I could process a few videos on my work computer, as

long as I bring my camera along with. (This computer compresses video insanely fast—I'm

extremely curious to see how fast it will handle Astro IIDC!)

Thanks again.

Duane

Hi Duane;

If your going to obsolete a Mac , then we will allow you to specify

which Mac your upgrading for version 4, especially because Version 4

is a Universal Binary now and most people will want to be running it

on a x86 PowerBook.

And No, you can't do a cross grade to another type of device (i.e.

Camera to Mac or Mac to Camera) when upgrading to a new version of

Astro IIDC. If you want to cross grade, then you can use the reduced

price second copy offering for version 4:

Hope that explains things..

PS:

On a side note, I'm going to be releasing Astro IIDC 4.00.03 this

week, which fixes a couple of minor bugs and includes a PowerPC only

version of Astro IIDC that runs on G3 / G4 / G5 Macs and OSX 10.3.x

to 10.5.2. Because it's built with CodeWarrior it's a bit faster on

PowerPC (especially the Altivec code sections)  than the XCode

compiled version of the Universal Binary.

My current ver 3 copy is registered to my old G4 laptop—which was

nice when my Fire-i

died, because it was all ready to go when I got the Imaging source

camera. Hopefully this

camera will last me longer than my most recent MacBook Pro, which

I'm already itching to

upgrade.
