Thanks Milton, I`ll try again when I have a suitable grabbed picture. Mark.

Hi Mark;
Stacks are NEVER exported as FITS. FITs does not support RGB images in a defined way (i.e some people use 3 matrices to represent each color , some use it to make pseudo movies - so it's a crap shoot).
As it says on Page 52 of the Manual:
The "When grabbing frames, save files in:" pop up menu allows you to specify the file format to
save any Grabbed frames with. Formats you can save in are TIFF (.tiff), PNG (.png), Windows
BMP (.bmp), PhotoShop (.psd), Mac PICT (.pict) and FITS (.fits). Note that the FITs format does
not have any color information, so for color cameras the image will be converted to monochrome
before being saved as a FITs file.
So as you can see, this applies ONLY to cameras grabbing frames.
And for Stacking on page 27 of the manual, the ouptut is always RGB48 or Mono16 Tiffs.
The "Select default folder for saving stacked frame(s) to..." button allows you to select a folder
to save all the resulting stacked frames too. The resulting stacked frames are always created as
16 bit monochrome or RGB48 bit color tiff file
So we don't support FITS for image processing at all and the stacks you've been sending are TIFF.
HTH..

Dear Milton, I`ve tried selecting "When grabbing frames save files in
FITS format" in Preferences, yet the stacked and aligned image still
has a .tif suffix. I`ve noticed though when opening in Photoshop there
is a "Spatial FITSheader" entry. I`m corresponding with Kaspar
Kirstein Nielsen from the NASA/ESA Photoshop CS3 FITS Liberator site
and he`s of the opinion my files aren`t opening in that program
because they are TIFF files. Can you help me?
