Hi Kevin,

I think you will be happy with the DMK21AF04. There are many advantages to a monochrome camera that more than offset the extra work when preparing RGB images using a color filter wheel - and tons of projects you can do in B&W while you're build your skills in color imaging.

Adirondack Astronomy introduced a motorized color filter wheel (battery operated) at NEAF - it looked very nice and was reasonably priced (under 300. with a NEAF special if I remember correctly...)

Hello All,

Long-time Mac User, First time Astrophotographer.

I'm looking to buy a camera to go with the following set-up:

Meade LXD75 SN8 AT
MacBook Pro
IIDC

Milton and the web mention The Imaging Sources "DMK 21AF04 / DFK
21AF04" or Point Grey Research's Research "FireFly MV"

Would be interested in color shots, the $350 price tag for the IS
cameras is about what I would like to spend.

There seem to be a number of trade-offs involved, so I'm looking for
expert opinions !

Thanks,
Kevin
