One thing they didn`t supply for the Mac Mini which it was recommended be obtained at the local hardware was a "grouting" knife for levering the case open. I thought, "where am I going to lay my hands on a pair of anti-static gloves readily in outback Australia"... and took it to the local Apple centre! (90 kms distant). Use of the gloves may have been over-precautious though! Good Luck, Mark.

Well, I'm not afraid to take these things apart - been doing so for 20

years now.

My wife had a "toilet seat" iBook that got a broken LCD when Southwest

made her check her bag (and she forgot the computer was in it!).  I

bought a new replacement that was a much nicer screen.  I remember it

being kind of strange and complicated to swap out, but I didn't have

any real trouble, just had to be careful of where all the parts were.

Hi Tim, When I bought a new DL DVD burner for mine it came with tools,

instructions, everything but I baulked when they talked about the

necessity for anti-static gloves etc. without which you can damage the

innards and handed it over to the technician. Mark.
