Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] Just updated my Website!

Hi Ray, I`ve never heard of that before (the storing of heat etc.) It`d certainly be a consideration for summer (it`s early spring here now in Australia). I was wondering about having my scopes under tarps during the usually very hot summers we have here & if 2 or 3 tarps might make it better. The grass isn`t as firm a base of course & is prone to gathering moisture. We just had a big thunderstorm here earlier tonight! I`d like to leave one scope out virtually permanently polar aligned (when I can finally achieve that satisfactorily) Milton reckons the best way to go with that is the facility for drift aligning in Astro IIDC- so far I`ve had 2-3 goes with an illuminated reticle eyepiece. When I slew to objects before doing a 3 or more star alignment they`re still a bit off. Is this normal?I`ve only had the C9.25 XLT OTA about a week but haven`t noticed any deterioration in the seeing so far. Mark.

Hiya Mark,

Just had a butcher's at your site and I noticed that you appear to site your scopes on a concrete pad (good choice on the C9.25 BTW, tops for planetary). Observing/imaging on concrete isn't ideal as the concrete will store-up heat during the day and slowly radiate it at night and could cause poor local seeing. Imaging and observing from the grassy areas would be much better. Ignore me if I've got this wrong it was just a thought.

I noticed you'd been on Damian's site, take a look at my mate Mick's site he uses a C9.25 and has done some pretty good stuff
