Apple tends to ignore petitions, but maybe it will help.

want Apple to bring back "FireWire ports in Apple consumer notebooks"

Still the best thing you can do is send Apple Feedback

and tell them you won't buy their non FireWire Equipped MacBooks.

Also, don't buy a Mac without FireWire too.
