I shot it with the Celestron 8". I used a Tele Vue 2.5x PowerMate so my effective focal length would be 5,000 mm. I was shooting 35 to 50 ms exposures using an AstroDon E-Series green filter this time.


It was just one of those very rare low turbulence nights that made the difference over what I normally can shoot. If the skies are mushy with the usual high chatter boiling, your not going to get any details.


If tonight works out, I'm going to go after the volcanic domes area west of Copernicus. And If seeing is reasonably good, I'll stay up late enough so I can try imaging Saturn as LRGB with the EXHAD Grasshopper. I only see the western half of the sky here, so it's not until midnight that Saturn is visible here.
