I've had a few good nights where Ganymede revealed albedo markings. This was another:

Quite a few images show this - especially the fine images coming from Australia where Jupiter is nice and high in the sky.
You might enjoy the spirited discussion on Cloudy Nights of an image of Ganymede from Belarus that was featured on APOD. These guys do very fine work overall, but this one is a bit too good to be true, IMO.

So I don't doubt at all that those features in the occultation could
be real.
PS: It's supposed to freaking snow tonight!!
When the #$%:#% does this Global Warming start again? Do we have to
