Jim:

Yes, I was shooting with the Color Flea2 776x1032.  I'm too lazy to shoot monochrome through color filters!  LOL.

actually, I've tried with various cameras before I got color cameras, like the SX HX516 I had several years ago, then the Meade DSI Pro, and lately a DSI Pro III (which thankfully doesn't interlace like the first one did!).  It works, but it's a pain.

Milton:

Yep, I rated that seeing at about an 8, though it might have been better than that.  Jupiter didn't move around, though there were smaller scale turbulence eddies occaisonally.

That scope is optimized for planetary.  I bought the mirror used off Amart, with a note that it had been made by ClearVue Optics as a planetary mirror.  I've been careful about collimation, and feel it was right on the money.

The seeing since hasn't been quite as good, and though I've been getting okay images with my 8" Springfield and orange C-8, they've not been quite that good.  Actually, the Springfield had flares off the limb that I noticed the first time I tried high-resolution imaging with it, and based on experiences I had subsequently with building a tube for my Cass, I'm sure it's because the baffles in the tube are causing warm air currents to cascade into the light path.

Turns out I have to go out of town for a week, starting tomorrow.  With my luck, this weather pattern will die out by the time I get back (though it's usually like this through August).  We'll see!

Hi Tim;

Really nice shot, especially with a 6" scope! You must have had

really excellent skies that night.

Thanks for sharing..
