Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] USB supported for DMK?

Hello digidodi,

I'm often  using a DMK with a Firewire 800 port.

To be more precise i'm running  contemporarily 2 copies of AstroIIDC one using  a DBK  for guiding and the other using a DMK for grabbing.

So i connected a camera to the normal 400 firewire and the other camera to the firewire 800.

In order to do that i bought a  9pin > to 6 pin firewire cable.

About USB2 i guess that Milton will answer you soon but i remember that some time ago he almost excluded the possibility to adopt the USB version because he should re-write all the code from the beginning  (Firewire IIDC and USB2 are completely different) and probably the camera manufacturer won't unveil their USB2 implementation.

USB2 is pretty slower than firewire  too  :-(

Cheers

Alberto

Oggetto: [Astro_IIDC] USB supported for DMK?

Hi group,

I just joined. I have a few DMK camera's (I piloted them a very long time ago, before DMK believed they could be used for astronomy :) ) at home. I am running them off a Windows XP server, but since for everything else I switched to Mac last year, perhaps now is a good time to switch completely.

The problem is, I have both USB and Firewire camera's. Is there support for USB in Astro_IIDC? It looks like a great software to me.

Sorry for my dumb question, but is it possible to use the Mac Notebook Pro FW800 port with DMK FW camera's? Will a converter cable work?

Tx
