Hi all,

Earth will pass through the ring plane of Saturn on September 4th -
the occasion has motivated me to finish processing my saturn images
from this year and to update my working animation of Saturn
observations to include images from 2004-2009:

http://www.avertedimagination.com/img_pages/6_years_of_saturn.html

A still image showing the 7 pictures used to make the animation can be
foundĀ here.

The edge-on image is constructed in Photoshop from previous 2009
observations, since <alas> when the rings appear edge on, Saturn will
be separated from the sun by 11 degrees and will shine 5 degrees above
the horizon after sunset - good pictures will be very hard to take.

All images captured with my A-P 10" mak/cass from my backyard in
Buffalo, except for the 2004 image which was taken from Cedar Key, FL.

best regards,
Alan
