One of the activities from Redding South Observatory is to share the experience of the 14" scope live via a webcast.  Right now I do that by splitting an analog feed from three cameras each used as an electronic eye piece for the 70 mm, 80 mm, and 14" scopes.  It would be very helpful if there was a way to stream an external firewire camera as well.  Would the multiple display solution at least partially address that issue as well?

No it won't address that at all.

What exactly do you mean by Streaming? A live video feed (what format??) or Jpeg images dumped to a web site or something else?

To do that usually means using QuickTime and I'd rather not do so for a variety of reasons - mostly stability and planned obsolescence.

And although we record to a Quicktime movie, I don't use Quicktime for that. I do it myself and create the entire movie atom structure from scratch without any QuickTime usage at all. I've had multi threaded preemptive movie recording code since OSX 10.2 shipped, where as we barely have that now in Snow Leopard.

HTH..
