Subject: some progress..!

I was able to get a good bit done tonight! I`m a bit perplexed though that my alignments are somewhat out. I began with a 3 star then with the scope tracking I set up my iBook on the picnic table & connected first to Voyager, then the Tiger version of Equinox 6 I have but couldn`t establish a connection through usb cable to the RS-232 connector & the base of the HC. I switched to my Mac Mini inside & after a restart of Equinox 6 was able to open the usb0 port & connect. Voyager took me a good deal longer as I hadn`t done it before. Eventually all the ports were operational, slews tested (though somewhat out of alignment-objects slewed to are outside the eyepiece FOV significantly) I went to the instructions for establishing a TCP/IP port. After the address of the Airport Base station was input & after some blind alleys (I had an 11 instead of a 10 entered in the address field on the iPod I found!) I was able to get the iPod to slew the telescope! Then I realised I`d forgotten to load the software for the RS-232 connector into the iBook. So I guess now I`ve done that it should work... As for the alignments, All Star & 3 star I`ll have to try again next time...
