Subject: Re: Scorpion experiences
As I said earlier, I found last night that the Scorpion video display wouldn't update if I used exposures longer than .533 ms, even though the times are not grayed out in the pulldown menu. I think I got similar results with either of the fleas before joining the pins.
I've taken exposures as long as 15 minutes with the flea 640x480, which has the 7.4 micron pixels (and it was November in SW Utah, so it was below freezing outside). The flea2 I have has 4.65 micron pixels, and I think the amp noise gets pretty bad after 5 minutes, even on cool nights (I've not used it when it's been below freezing, though!).
My gut feeling is that the Scorpion will do very well for long exposures, especially if it's cool out.

Thank you Milton and Mark.
What is the longest exposure the PGR cameras can be set to without the
GPIO modification?
thanks,

Yes, on this list.
Search for "GPIO" or "long exposure PGR" on the group list and
you'll find a a bunch (up to 35) of messages on it.

Is there discussion/instruction anywhere for connecting the GPIO0
and GPIO1 pins on the Scorpion to enable long exposures? I've never
soldered anything outside of copper plumbing pipe and that was many
years ago.
thanks!

Tim,
I soldered the 2 wires on the rat-tail I was provided with
together (& even followed Milton`s instructions for making my own
Peltier cooler) but haven`t done any time exposures with my Flea 2
yet. With 2 of those 1600 pixel PGR cameras available (perhaps
some of the other 1300 pixel ones) I`d have had to beat Alan to
the punch & I only remembered my niece after Peter`s post! Last
time I spoke to her she was between addresses so I didn`t follow
up the option.
Mark.
