Subject: first light with PGR Scorpion
Hi all,
I had a break in the clouds today and a first chance to try my new PGR Scorpion camera on the sun.
http://www.avertedimagination.com/img_pages/blue_fireball.html
I was happy to find that I can now fit the full solar disk on the 1600x1200 chip using my 90mm Coronado filter and 92mm A-P Stowaway refractor. The seeing was poor - I did not attempt to stack frames. This image is made from two individual video frames - a bit grainy, but I like the way it turned out. A tiny active area can be seen just below and to the right of center.
Linked below the image are a couple of terrestrial shots I took with the new camera using an IR filter.
Thanks again to Tim and Milton for their help.
clear skies!
Alan
