Hi Perry,

I`m just running down to 39-40 GB on my Mac Mini after having a 120 GB one put in for me 2 or so years ago & I don`t want to be caught short this time. I do have a couple of external Lacie drives (250 & 500 GB ones) I know all about the complexity of the job. I`m planning on some milk bottle plastic lids of different ( hopefully colour coded)-colours. I`ve got the torx screw driver & "spudger" in my order which is yet to arrive. The spudger is supposed to be to pry the case open which is the one part I have misgivings about...I`m also worried if I have to leave it out part done that the cats will sit on it!! Will remember to let you know how I go!

Hey Mark,

My iBook G4 has a 60 gig HD in it.

I've seen the posts on installing a new HD in it. You gotta take EVERYTHING apart!!

There must be "seventy-eleven" screws to keep up with. It doesn't seem hard, tho, but tedious, like some 14 or so steps in the disassembly. If I ever do this, I'm gonna get a bunch of small styrofoam cups, cut them in half, and number and label each as to its position in the disassembly.

If I were you, I'd get a set of GOOD jeweler's screwdrivers. When I replaced the keyboard on my Intel MacBook 13.3", I tried using the "cheapies" and then the German-made set I bought on eBay. Not relatively cheap, but they really work nicely.

The former are in a trash bin somewhere!!!

Good luck and let us know how the replacement went.

Best wishes,

Perry
