Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] PGR Scorpion

Hi Ray,

If you got my eBay link you should be able to check the other items by the same seller. There`s a 1300 pixel Scorpion still for sale for a little cheaper than this as well as a Flea for a very good price still for sale. I`ve said it before but PGR cameras are a little better than their TIS cousins-ROI is one thing (in the case of the Fleas a 7.4 micron square size of pixel meaning more detail). My Flea 2 was $1400 AUD new so you can see the deal here is very good. I`m finding when I look to the chip size for my Scorpion & the FOVs there so much I can fit in the picture I couldn`t with the Flea 2 or DBK. They`re mono cameras too which gives them a resolution advantage over my colour jobs previously. Perhaps the wash out in my first images was due to taking them on the full moon- Howard`s shots are taken either side of the full moon & must be using prime focus or a barlow I guess..

Cheers Alan,

I'll take a look on eBay (not that I've really got the spare funds but if it's a bargain!). Your Orange fuzzball image is almost 3D! great image. In the UK we've had awful weather for months just no clear skies hardly at all and if there are it's blowing a gale, we had 70mph winds on the weekend just gone.

Hi Ray,

This is an older model PGR camera that has been discontinued and is appearing for sale in new condition on ebay much reduced from it's original price. There are a number of chipsets to choose from... all have some features that are not found on the TIS cameras - 12 bit a/d conversion and region of interest (ROI) among them. I am finding the additional bit depth to be helpful for solar imaging... have yet to use the camera on the moon or planets. Here is my latest image assembled last night from solar data captured over the weekend:

I haven't looked to see if the camera is still available on ebay. The seller I purchased mine from is an amateur astronomer and the camera was delivered new in original PGR packaging as advertised.

clear skies!

Hi Guys,

Anybody want to tell me all about this camera. I know there was a buzz
going around about it but it probably on a thread I wasn't reading.
Also interested in availability in UK/Europe.

TIA
