Subject: Re: PGR Scorpion
There's another seller with one of the once-coveted Scorpion models with the 9.9 micron pixels in it here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Point-Grey-Resrch-SCORPION-IEEE-1394-Digital-Camera_W0QQitemZ390120008276QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Security_Fire_Protection?hash=item5ad4f6ea54
I'm toying with trying this one out, versus adding another color flea, listed here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Point-Grey-640x480-Color-Flea-CS-Camera-100-NEW_W0QQitemZ290369141417QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item439b597aa9
This one being advertised by the same fellow we bought our Scorpions from recently.
I have a color flea like this one for sale. Except that it's got less pixels, it's got less of the thermal noise than the smaller-pixeled flea2 (1032x776), but they're both 1/3" ccds. I've been using the flea with an 11mm cmount lens as a finder when I'm operating my Nexstar 9.25" remotely.

Hi Ray,
That seller on eBay (who`s the guy everyone has been buying from) with
the cheap prices for the Scorpions dosen`t have International postage.
So unless you know someone in the States who`ll recieve the camera &
send it on you`re a bit stuck! Mine was bought using the kind help of
my niece who lives in LA.

Cheers Alan,
I'll take a look on eBay (not that I've really got the spare funds
but if it's a bargain!). Your Orange fuzzball image is almost 3D!
great image. In the UK we've had awful weather for months just no
clear skies hardly at all and if there are it's blowing a gale, we
had 70mph winds on the weekend just gone.

Hi Ray,
This is an older model PGR camera that has been discontinued and is
appearing for sale in new condition on ebay much reduced from it's
original price. There are a number of chipsets to choose from...
all have some features that are not found on the TIS cameras - 12
bit a/d conversion and region of interest (ROI) among them. I am
finding the additional bit depth to be helpful for solar imaging...
have yet to use the camera on the moon or planets. Here is my
latest image assembled last night from solar data captured over the
weekend:

I haven't looked to see if the camera is still available on ebay.
The seller I purchased mine from is an amateur astronomer and the
camera was delivered new in original PGR packaging as advertised.
clear skies!

Hi Guys,
Anybody want to tell me all about this camera. I know there was a
buzz
going around about it but it probably on a thread I wasn't reading.
Also interested in availability in UK/Europe.
