It shows up as a "Flea" on the FireWireBus for 10.5.x. Then lists manufacturer as PGR and other correct stuff.

If it doesn't show up that way, likely the FPGA or whatever they use as a micro processor is toast and not processing commands to even set up the Configrom.

I think mine is definitely bringing down the FW bus, so if that is the case I will return it as a HW malfunction.

It could do that.
