How hard is tuning the filter to get surface detail? Is it a trial and error thing?

I removed the PST etalon and BF5 filter from the rectangular PST body to eliminate the PST prism from the optical path and hopefully improve performance.  The optical train as shown is inserted into my AP Traveler with an 80mm Daystar ERF filter on the objective end.


I'm still working on tuning for surface resolution but the prominences show up with nice resolution.
