Milton, there is a ring that you can turn to adjust the tilt and tune the etalon frequency.  However it appears that the distance between the diagonal/blocking filter and the etalon is quite critical.  My first attempt was too short and I got a lot of flaring and almost no surface detail.  I'm going to try to lengthen the distance and see if it improves.  If we get the sun again!
