Hi Mark;

That's something different.

You don't need a Cat 5  repeater.

You need a male 6 pin to female 4 pin adapter. The 4 pin FireWire cables don't carry power.

If the 4 pin is attached to the Mac and then run to the Hub, then the Hub will provide power if it's plugged into the AC/DC power.

HTH..

Milton,

The Firewire thread you`re referring to is messages 2930-2938. You

were recommending something like this at the time;  http://www.unibrain.com/Products/p1394/FR400.htm

My device is this one; http://www.unibrain.com/products/p1394/

fr400.htm

Apparently a standard AC-12 volt power source is OK for it if rated

at 1.5 Amps..

I have a couple which will fit (one which has the AC plug for this

region) though I`m unsure of it`s power rating..Using it, if I plug

in the Scorpion to the Firerepeater 400 first (to Astro IIDC) & then

the Flea 2 (to the 2nd copy) both will open although I`m getting a

message to say "not enough Firewire bandwidth is available.." upon

the Flea 2`s connection...." Try reducing the frame rate or Video

size" on 648 x 488 16 bit FMT7 at above 7.5 fps. 640 x 480 16 bit

images will work on 15 fps as will 640 x 480 8 bit images.
