Milton, That"s another good idea but the solution I have now with the 12 volt power adaptor dosen"t involve any more expendtures of money at this stage & appears to be working. Do you mean that the 6 pin cables are drawing power from the computer"s FW bus & this may be detracting from the Firerepeater 400"s operation?

That's something different.

You don't need a Cat 5 repeater.

You need a male 6 pin to female 4 pin adapter. The 4 pin FireWire cables don't carry power.

If the 4 pin is attached to the Mac and then run to the Hub, then the Hub will provide power if it's plugged into the AC/DC power.
