Hi Mark;

Yes, that's what I am trying to get across.

You need to use a 4 pin to 6 pin FW adapter between the Hub and the Mac, which forces the Hub to power itself. You also need an AC/DC adapter too for the Hub to power it. Usually they indicate near the plug what the Adapter will need for input, like 12 volt and xx amps.
