Hi Milton,

I`ve found a number of adaptors now none seem to be the recommended 1.5A!   http://www.unibrain.com/Products/p1394/FR400.htm

 The adaptor I already tried with the (native to here) plug says ...Output +6V=2A.. another says 12V+0.8A,  a big one I have on which I`ve removed the 12V plug says 12V=2000mA 24VA & one with an American plug says 9V=17A (16W Max). I also have the variable voltage American one I bought for the Peltier cooler (which is quite permanently attached now- with the 12V plug removed) which says Output 12VDC current DC 2500mA. I guess I could try the second one I mentioned @ 12V+0.8A...

Hi Mark;

Yes, that's what I am trying to get across.

You need to use a 4 pin to 6 pin FW adapter between the Hub and the
Mac, which forces the Hub to power itself. You also need an AC/DC
adapter too for the Hub to power it. Usually they indicate near the
plug what the Adapter will need for input, like 12 volt and xx amps.

HTH..
