After creating a video with DFK31AF03, the .mov file only opens on the computer I imaged with. Trying to save as or  export on that computer, or with QTPro, I get the error message "kit error catch all -8961"  How can I successfully save and show the image ?  Thanks, Dean

A -8961 error is a noCodecErr (it's not a catch all error at all, despite what Apple indicates). Likely you do not have our Bayer Codec installed, which is the 7th item listed in our FAQ:

http://www.outcastsoft.com/ASCASTROIIDC.html#FAQ

and in our Reade Me First document.

Astro IIDC doesn't need it to record movies, but it does need it to decompress the color movies for playback, stacking and conversion.

If that's not it, then we need more information, like what OS X Version, What Mac Model, What QuickTime version and the serial numbers you have registered, which should be sent to our support@outcastsoft.com address, not here.
