Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] drift aligning...
Milton,
I looked at that before & just checked again..I`ve opened the Bookmark of your CGEM page I have & it dosen`t appear to be giving me the Save As option at all. Usually if this happens I do a series of snapshots covering the parts of whole document (which I`ll do when finished writing!).
Perhaps I was wrong about what I was asking you to do..! It`d take a few more than 2-3 sentences for you to cover the subject in the Manual properly I guess.
I meant that with these snapshots I often have it`s a little inconvenient opening them in sequence on the computer screen when referring to them at the scope..each has to be brought up independently etc. It`s a bit of a hodge podge way of doing it & even was I able to save as a Web archive or something there`s no guarantee the document will still be there sometimes months later when I need it again! I`ve found in the past that a favourite document on the subject has been pulled from the web in between doing drift alignments.
I did refer previously to the option of doing a print out to read by torchlight at the scope...
Astro IIDC does give me the ability to bin the image which I`m not sure FlyCapture does? On a night like tonight there`d be little problem (with rain) unrolling my cables & setting up to use Startarg for instance. It`s only $20!
Over Easter my youngest brother has been painting & cleaning out the garage area where my desktop computers are. This is about 20 feet from the scope.
The LRGB filters are in stock at present & I could afford them by months end if I devoted all my finances in that direction...it`s just that I`m in two minds about proceeding with buying the pavers for my site before polar aligning again. I had it fairly right by All Star a month or so ago but nudged one of my present bricks with a lawn mower enough to put it out...
There`s been bouts of on & off rain or clouds since so I haven`t been out at the scope for a while.
Mark.

Instead of worrying the link will disappear, why not do any of the
following:
1) Print it off on paper so you have a paper copy handy.
2) Do a Save As and save the entire html page and images to your hard
drive in a folder.
3) Print it again, but this time in the Print dialog, save the printed
image as a .pdf file
4) Select the text for the description, copy it, paste it into Apple's
TextEdit application window and save it as a .rtf file.
All of these give you a permanent record of the Drift Align procedure
and are just common sense.
Later..
