Subject: my Jupiters..& rain damage

Hi,

I realised I had a somewhat better Jupiter movie taken with my Scorpion 20SOM (at prime focus with my C9.25) on  the 24th November `09. I`ve quickly processed it again. Here`s a snapshot of it  attached with one of my Flea 2 colour efforts from the other night (also at prime focus on the C9.25)...

Perhaps my collimation`s not that bad after all...what do you think? The corrector was removed once again after a hail storm on the 17th January `10 but the secondary was left in place on this occasion..I was able to budge the glass the second time without getting my finger inside the hole left when the secondary is removed.

After the first removal I attempted a rudimentary collimation by getting the moon in best focus then tweaked it again for Jupiter..I did try the defocusing either side & looked at the doughnuts at the time & they looked pretty even all round...

The first B/W Jupiter attached was taken after this initial re-collimation.

Also attached is a shot of the water inside the corrector after the hail storm.

I`ve since learned to put my arms inside the scope cover whilst removing the OTA during rain & remove it holus-bolus with the cover still protecting it from water...
