For collimation with an SCT, turn on the "Reticule" and then use the Concentric circles of the Reticule as your guide for the adjustments.


I also find that using binning 2x2 or 4x4 and increasing the brightness makes it easier to see the out of focus star rather than extending the exposure time, especially at long focal lengths.
