Be sure to compare with gamma set the same - increasing gamma will decrease the light levels substantially too.

Apparently yes.

I did have a wonderful visit to Mt. Wilson this week - an incredible experience, the only thing lacking was the legendary Mt. Wilson seeing. But who's going to complain! I will share more pictures as I have a chance to process them. I used Astro IIDC to capture the data captured with the 60" scope and my 1600x1200 scorpion camera. I brought a .67 focal reducer to tame the native 24 meter focal length of the George Ritchey telescope. Even with this, the image just fits on the frame. Talk about over sampling! I had to set the confidence level to 0 and hand select the frames for stacking - contrast was very low, quite a challenge to work with.
