Hi Alan:

I'm not actually sure!  They came with my Meade DSI Pro (1) that I bought at RTMC a handful of years ago.  I think I tried to find that out on Meade's website, but I don't think I ever got a firm answer.  I have various times put an IR blocker in, when I was using the Meade filter slider on the DSI, but since I got the filter wheel and an adapter to put in place of that silly slider bracket, I haven't tried it.

I did have the saturation set too high in Astro IIDC, I think.

But I think you were right.  There's a significant improvement in resolution using a monochrome camera through filters over a color camera.  The seeing wasn't good, but the results came out better than if I'd shot with a color camera.  I just need a faster monochrome camera for planetary.

Hi Tim,

Are the RGB filters you're using blocked for IR/UV?

The colors remind me of a black light poster shop from the 60's!

Looks like you recorded some good detail.

cheers,

Alan

Here are the stats for the red file. I don't quite understand why the posted file seems a lot bluer than the processing I did on it. But I'll not worry about it much for this post because it was really mostly a test of the monochrome/RGB image acquisition process. I want to make sure I can and want to do it, before spending the money on a faster mono camera (probably an exhad flea3).
