Likely no.

In Astro IIDC 4.06.04, I can preview video fine on my MacBook Pro, but I freeze during capture. The capture will start fine, but freeze anywhere from 100 to 400 frames into a 1000-frame attempt. FPS doesn't seem to matter.

If it's only happening when you record, it's not the camera. The same mechanism for displaying frames in preview on screen is used when recording.

So unless it's freezing when your watching it live, then it's unlikely to be the camera.

I have swapped FireWire cables with no effect.

My DMK21 records fine.

We'll take this off list as I'm going to need to see the Crash Log first and a bunch of other information, for example, which version of Astro IIDC, Mac model, Mac System version, the movie recording logs and probably a screen shot of your Camera preferences if your not getting recording logs.
