Subject: Re: Orion Atlas EQ-G and Astro IIDC

Thank you, Milton!

I thought that's how I understood it. I used your software for years with a Meade LXD75, and despite how I, too, had it overloaded, it was an acceptable set up. I've recently begun to replace my equipment (long story) and decided to spend the majority of my budget on the mount first.

Anyway, I simply won't consider using any other software, so the mount's compatibly was the first hurdle.

Thank you so much for the quick verification!

Hi Kirk;

Yes it is compatible via the GPUSB and ST4 port on the EQ5/6 or Atlas

mounts. It's basically plug (and calibrate) and play. The Astro IIDC

4.07 manual covers everything on guiding from pages 18 to 28 (yes, 10

pages of stuff to read).  The step by step process of doing

calibration and what to watch out for is described on pages 21 to 24.

That's the same procedure I use when doing DSO imaging.

The Orion Atlas EQ-G is basically rebadged version of the SkyWatcher

EQ6 - they are the same mounts. I have it's "baby brother" the

Skywatcher HEQ5 here that I use for all my imaging. However I am over

my weight limit with the AT8 RC scope on the HEQ5 and will need to buy

a bigger mount sometimes in the future.

HTH..

Hi Milton, I just want to verify that I can use Astro IIDC with an

Orion Atlas EQ-G (or Skywatcher EQ6) mount via Shoestring's GPUSB

Interface Adapter. Is this correct? I don't need to modify anything,

just plug and play.

I'm purchasing a new mount and it has to be compatible with Astro

IIDC or I'm not interested. ;-)

Thank you!
