That's a post from 2006 - almost 6 years ago.

At that time, they were planning on using the 8 bit monochrome camera built around the Texas Instruments TSB15LV01 chip set. The problem with it is there is a flaw in the chip set and it only delivers 7 bits of dat (127 shades of gray instead of 256 grays).

As far as I know, they never went beyond the planning / testing stage.
