Nice image. The Mars actually has a good amount of detail for F20 and it's miniscule size this opposition.


I tried imaging Venus in UV a few weeks back and seeing was so bad at F8 with the AT8RC scope that I didn't bother capturing anything. I could not get it into sharp focus and even using the nearly full moon, it was difficult achieving focus due to rapid high frequency turbulence.

Finally the weather cooperated to shoot some images.

Goal was to show the three well positioned planets in scale.

The image shows how small Mars is during this years opposition. :-(
