Subject: Re: New Flea3 mono camera not recognized by Astro_IIDC

Hi George;

That could indicate a camera or possibly cable problem.

According to the "Flea3_Technical_Reference.pdf" document, if the light is flashing on and off it "Indicates possible camera problem" (see section "8.2 Status Indicator LED" on page 116).

If you have another FireWire cable, I would try that first to see if it works or not. A bad cable can cause all sorts of weird intermittent issues.

Also, just to be sure, you are using Astro IIDC 4.07.03 rev 2:

version off that you got off our web site, right?

Hi,

I just purchased a Flea3 camera. I bought a 10 ft Firewire 800 1394B 9 pin to 9 pin cable made by I.Connect from Frys. When I connect the camera the green power light comes on. It seems to go on and off for no apparent reason. I downloaded the Astro_IIDC software to my iMac 24" running Lion and installed the software. When I attempt to step through the "Getting Started" instructions the Astro_IIDC software reports an error "no IIDC camera available". I can look at the Firewire port in the OSX system report and it displays the camera as being attached to the Firewire port.  I searched the messages and did not see this problem described. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

George
