Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] New Flea3 mono camera not recognized by Astro_IIDC

George,

I bought the same cable from Fry's a couple of days ago, my new Flea3 arrived yesterday. It didn't work. I also have a very short cable for something else that I tried and the camera worked....

So it's back to Fry's today to buy some assorted lengths......

Good Luck,

Paul

Hi Milton,

Thanks for your reply. Do you and other users use any particular brand of FireWire cable? I notice that the version of Astro IIDC that I am using is 4.07.03.01 which was downloaded from the Astro IIDC web site. Is "rev 2" something different? Where do I down load that version?

What do you mean by "version off that you got off our web site, right?"

Thanks for your help,

George

Hi George;

That could indicate a camera or possibly cable problem.

According to the "Flea3_Technical_Reference.pdf" document, if the light is flashing on and off it "Indicates possible camera problem" (see section "8.2 Status Indicator LED" on page 116).

If you have another FireWire cable, I would try that first to see if it works or not. A bad cable can cause all sorts of weird intermittent issues.

Also, just to be sure, you are using Astro IIDC 4.07.03 rev 2:

version off that you got off our web site, right?

HTH..

It seems to go on and off for no apparent reason. I downloaded the Astro_IIDC software to my iMac 24" running Lion and installed the software. When I attempt to step through the "Getting Started" instructions the Astro_IIDC software reports an error "no IIDC camera available". I can look at the Firewire port in the OSX system report and it displays the camera as being attached to the Firewire port. I searched the messages and did not see this problem described. Any suggestions?
