Subject: Bayer Quality

Hi Folks;

I though this might interest to some of you with Color bayer cameras.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Astro_IIDC/files/Other/NormalVSHighQualitBayer.jpg

Here are two image stacks using the same 16 bit bayer color source movie with exact same frames and settings. The image on the left is done Bayer Normal Quality. The image on the right is with Bayer High Quality. Note the increase in detail, but without any noise increase. The High quality versions uses a 5x5 kernel and the normal uses a 3x3 kernel.

The new multi threaded stacking in Astro IIDC 4.08.00 Alpha also has each thread decoding the bayer itself, so the more cores you have, the faster it can process the frames. The previous versions had the processing done by the thread that extracts the movie frames.

Again, if any of you had issues with the Astro IIDC 4.08.00 Alpha release, please let me know soonest as I would like to move to a beta / GM release by middle of April.

TTYL..
