I've really thought that I had some kind of local seeing problem as I never get decent seeing but to prove me wrong I did on this night. It's probably that I don't go out often enough or make poor judgements about when to go out. Anyway I'm delighted with these, I couldn't do colour because my colour wheel set-up is all screwed together items to stop flexure (Trutek filter wheel). The amplifying element is a Takahashi 2x Barlow type of thing that screw fits in the train but 2x was a bit too small an image scale.
