Subject: Re: [Astro_IIDC] First light with Astro IIDC software and Flea3 camera

Ray,

Thanks for your comments. Yes, I am very happy with this first result. I also have used a ToUcam for several years. This Flea3 camera and Astro IIDC software is a significant improvement. Yes, I did the LRGB color processing in Astro IIDC. I did pull the final image into Photoshop for a few minor tweaks, but not many. I just recently bought the Astro IIDC software, so I am not certain when the LRGB processing feature became available. It worked great for me. I need to use this software more to learn to take advantages of all of its features. The processing that I did for this image was done with a minimal understanding of the Astro IIDC capabilities. The LRGB capabilities that I used are described on page 61 of the Astro IIDC 4.07.03 help guide that came with the software.

Good Luck,

George

Hi George,

What a great Mars image you must be very pleased at the result I know I would be. I got my first ever decent image of Mars last week and I've been trying for many apparitions and with a ToUcam in the past. I've got 2 versions of Astro IIDC one for my DMK camera and one for my Point Grey Chameleon (which I bought last year). Did you do the LRGB colour processing in Astro IIDC?, I usually use Photoshop for that bit as I didn't think Astro IIDC could do that. If you did I'd better brush-up on things and read the manual. I wonder also if I should upgrade the Astro IIDC software that is related to the DMK camera if the newer version does LRGB processing.

I hope we will see some more good results from your set-up in the future

Best regards

Ray

Hi,

I recently purchased the Astro IIDC software. Last night I had good seeing and attempted to acquire some Mars images. I have been very impressed with the Astro IIDC software capabilities, both for image acquisition and image processing. The image in the link below was acquired and processed using the Astro IIDC software. This was my first attempt at LRGB planet imaging (I previously used a ToUcam). The Astro IIDC software did an excellent job of selecting and stacking the frames with very little input from me. I was able to align the color frames and produce a very acceptable LRGB image with little difficulty. Thanks to the authors of this great software!
