Subject: ExoPlanet Qatar-2B Transit April 20th

Hi Folks;

If you have ever wanted to try to capture an Exoplanet photometric transit with Astro IIDC, you might want to try Qatar-2B (USNO J1350376-064813), RA: 13 50 37.41 DE: -06 48 14.4 at Mag ~ 13.3 tomorrow (Friday April 20th).

It has one of the deepest dips of all exoplanets at 0.0374 magnitudes and likely could be detected with even an 8 bit mono camera, as long as you don't crank the gain up.

More information on the transit is available here:

From Calgary, it starts at 11:39 pm MST tomorrow night and runs for 110 minutes. You'll need to start capturing the event in Astro IIDC at least 30 minutes before and after the event for a baseline.

It only reaches 30° above the horizon here in Calgary and the forecast has the Jet Stream right over top of me, so it's difficult to say if I'll catch it. There is a second opportunity on April 24th starting at 11:56 pm too.

Clear skies..
